Matisse, Monet and Me™ introduces art history to children and encourages them to express themselves in their own creative way. Each class starts by studying the works of an artist and the techniques used. We then create projects inspired by the artist or their culture.

We look in mirrors for self portraits, draw from still-lifes, mix colors with marbles and sculpt with clay. Sometimes we even make our own paints, just as the old masters did!

Children are guided through projects, as they develop their eye and hand coordination. Matisse, Monet and Me™ fosters each student's natural urge to explore the world and be open to all possibilities of expression through art.

Matisse, Monet & Me™ art classes are currently scheduling
in Montessori schools in your area!

Dear School Director,

Matisse, Monet & Me™ follows the Montessori art philosophy of “process vs. product". We currently provide classes for many Montessori schools in Chicagoland!

Our curriculum inspires children in the primary, elementary and Erd-kinder (Jr. High) levels. We would like to offer our services to start a Matisse, Monet & Me™ program at your school for the upcoming 2011-12 school year.

Matisse, Monet and Me™ introduces art history to children and encourages creative expression through the inspiration of an artist or culture.

A new artist or culture is studied once a week until the completion of our 3-year curriculum cycle. Primary students (3-6 year olds) are introduced to historical art ideas and learn how to manipulate various art media while developing their “pincher grip” needed for writing. Elementary students review artists in greater detail, experiment with various art media, fine-tune their motor skills and build on their eye/hand coordination. The curriculum spans the duration of the 3-year Montessori cycle. It begins with “Cave Art” and concludes with the present day so lessons are not repeated for 3 years. After 3 years, the student is inspired through the fresh eyes of their new stage of development and the program is new to them once again!

If you know your students/parents might be interested in the program, drop us a line or phone call and we’d be happy to come out and show you a portfolio of some recent children’s projects. We will provide registration forms for distribution and drop by an “Art Box” for the parents to return them in or parents can register online from our website. If we get 6 students interested, a class will begin. There is no additional work required by your staff or fee for your school.  We bring in all art, cleaning supplies and tablecloths and take them back with us. All we need from you is a vacant room with tables and chairs, or a large floor area to work on. (We often hold classes in a “practical life” area.) Classes can be held during the school day, as an art enrichment program or run as an after school activity.

Please call or email us to set up a time soon before our timeslots fill up in your area! We are looking forward to creating with you soon!

Kind Regards,

“Imagination does not become great until a person, given the courage and strength, uses it to create.

If this does not occur, the imagination addresses itself only to a spirit of wandering emptiness.”
—Dr. Maria Montessori
